People let me tell ya bout my best friend!

This is Casey. He's my homie. He keeps me up on the music tips and let's me know what's hot, what's not, and who to check out asap. He's been having a field day by posting an old school of my negropino afro on his blog, about 3-4 times already. He claims it's the only photo he has of me. This, coming from the guy who blogs photos he'll steal from other people's facebook n myspace profiles...hmmm.
So, out of love for my little brother, I had to post the "only" picture I have of him. Unfortunately, he was a cute kid, so it's not hurting him to post it on the bloggity blog..

This is him now! How he got such a cute and sweet woman, is beyond me...but he's still my lil bruh...

I wonder...

Do people really watch the Sham Wow and Slap Chop commercials and feel compelled to call and order either as seen on tv product? Does the value priced 2 for 1 make them that much more appealing?
When he says, "Beware of Sham wow imitators," and "It's made by Germans," does that make one forget about buying 'made in china' from Wal-Mart? Just curious to know if people really fall for that shit... Obviously, the marketing works on someone... My bad if anybody reading this has a sham wow in their car trunk and a slap chop in their utensil drawer......
No, not my bad. It's yours. What the hell told you to feed into that bs and buy a slap chop to make egg, ham, pickles, onions for breakfast??? Are you on crack? You can tell me, I won't be mad...and it'll make sense of the decision you made to blow 19.99 on that p.o.s.

Yeah, that's us right before we set out on our ziplining adventure in Princeville, Kauai. How or why papa puts up with my crazy ass, I don't know...but I can brag that I am his favorite.

And, of course, the doodoo-meister in her leg hump/ body pop robot pose. One of our signature dance/pick up moves. I love my lil brother.

Reflections on a discussion...

This entry is of a bit more serious tone, I guess. I was having a discussion with a close friend about relationships and finding "the one." He suggested that maybe we settle because we're comfortable and "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." I told myself that I'd never put myself in that situation or allow myself to do that with anyone. I lied to myself because I did just that with Robbie. 3 years of compromising and trying to help "fix" him. You know damn well people won't change unless they commit to make the effort to do it for themselves. I tried to force the situation to work because I'm a fixer and a giver. In my mind, I can make it work...even when it truly cannot. I think after that situation, I'm less tolerant of bullshit and dig out when I see anything that could be a sign of a shit sandwich.
We also discussed trusting in the fact that one could spend a lifetime happy with another. How does one really know that he/she will be in love and happy with this one person 10-20 years from now? Hell, how does one know that the other won't drive one crazy after 3-4 years? We discussed couples we knew that were truly happily married. He knew of none. I can think of several but one that stands out for me is my sister n bro-in-law. Their marriage is fairly new but the passion and love they share for each other, and for their son, is inspiring.
Hopefully, they can pull it off for the lifetime gig. Same for my brother and his wifey.
Hmm, getting too deep for tonight. I was trying to get to the funny part about some people having satisfaction in a relationship similar to hugh hefner's...but I took it a whole other direction. Hmm, maybe later.

Excitement and Anticipation...

are giving me the butterflies in my stummy...or is it bubble guts from the sushi I ate earlier? Just kidding...Excited about vacation in Kauai. My grandparents are flying in from Cali and my bro-in-law is coming back from Iraq for r&r. I'm stoked to be spending my birthday with my loved ones...Wish daddy,Johnny boy n his fam could be there. But, I'll take what I can get...Doo n Elijah are taking me zip-linin' and possibly ATV'in...Even Grandad's going to do it.
I will be Hanalei bound for sure...Nothing like drinkin' Boones Farm on a beautiful sandy beach...Don't be jealous because I'm a classy puta...Yeah, I felt your jealousy as soon as I said Boone's Farm. Did I mention it'll be the Strawberry flavor? Don't hate.

I cannot wait to do absolutely nothing. My mouth is watering in anticipation of the many hole-in-the-wall grub spots that my family frequents...Asia Tang, Sone's, Hamura's, Da Imu Hut, Pacific Pizza & Deli, Kalapaki Burger Hut...I'ma stop. Sueoka's...Okay, that was the last one...

AND, my Nate Nate; my precious nephew who's running all over the place. Word on the Playschool street is that lil man loves to shake his culo like his mommy and Aunty Yaya. It's not his fault he was blessed with the booty shakin genes. I've seen him drop it like it's hot. Watch out ladies...

On a more serious note...

So, I usually post stupid shiz and random things that I come across or are hilariously entertaining. I feel the need to vent this latest episode of what I call "Interacting wtih Richard" and my blog is the perfect outlet. People read it, but not that many people.
Anyway, a few weeks ago, I kept getting calls from Christina (my real dad's third wife). It was like clockwork for almost a week straight, she would call me at 5-6am HI time. Of course my ass was sleeping, but she would leave a voicemail about not knowing what time it was, but to call her back... For those of you not familiar with my relationship with my real dad, just know that there is none...Every few years, when something significant happens in their lives, his wife reaches out to try and get us to reconnect. About 7 years ago, I spent my own money to go out to New York and visit Richard, Christina and Mykael, my 1/2 brother...Let's just say it was a miserable week or 10 days or however long I was there. I wanted to see for myself who my father was and if any sort of relationship could be spared. What a waste of money. Throughout the years, he had consistently disappointed us with failed promises to visit or have us visit. No birthday cards, phone calls, "how are you? miss you" calls...Just a real Grade A D-bag dickface...Going to New York solidified to me who he was and why I had no desire to interact with him.
I remember returning to Cali and meeting my parents at the baggage claim. I hugged my step-dad William (who I consider to be my dad) then kissed n hugged my mom as I told her, "NOW I see why you divorced him!" We all had a good laugh about it, but I really felt that way. Never had I met someone so ignorant and delusional as far as intelligence and common sense were concerned. Okay, so I've kind of given you the quick version of the back story...Just know Richard is a dead beat dad, or at least was to us...
Back to the story. So, Christina was calling and leaving voice mails about calling her back...This went on for several days during a stressful time for me. Work was chill but I was dealing with some not so good individuals that were just miserable in their own lives...making it hectic for others...Anyway, the last day of her phone calls, I also get a text from her, "Hey r u mad at me? Call me back. Miss you" Then an hour later, "Hi sister Yayo, it's your brother Mykael. I love u n miss u." (on a side note, Richard and Christina could never spell my name or say it right). Still, I didn't respond. I needed time to think about letting them in my life again.
By the time my day finished, I had one more text from her. "I waited all day for you to call back. I guess you don't want to be bothered. Your loss. Still love ya though."
This bee-hatch was trying to get under my skin. It was working. I hopped onto myspace that same evening and saw that she had created a profile, so she could add me to her friendslist n check out my page. It's private, but more importantly, access to Johnny n Martha are there. So, I wrote her and basically told her I wouldn't be adding her because Martha n Johnny are on my page n linked to my page, and they want NOTHING to do with Richard, period. I have to respect their wishes and deny her friend request.
She responds with a tirade about how I'm selfish and how we don't even know Richard. We're punishing him for lies my mom has told us, etc...
I responded with a letter of my own, letting her know that my feelings towards Richard come from my own interactions with him, not from anything my mom has said about him. The crazy thing is, for the longest time, my mom wouldn't say anything bad about him, she let us experience firsthand, and make our own judgements about him and the situation...Richard doesn't take accountability for shit. He'd rather make excuses as to why he can't or couldn't make his commitments...Instead of biting the bullet and apologizing...Something he'd never do. I threw it out there the fact that Richard was a dick who tried to disclaim Martha so he wouldn't have to dole out child support for her. Big whoop, he worked under the table for a while and got out of paying us period. It didn't matter, William was there to provide for all three of us. My mom even challenged him with a paternity test, to which he quickly backed down. It's obvious none of this was shared with Christina, his ever trusting third wife.
She emails me back with a claim that Martha does not belong to Richard and that she's William kid; that my mom cheated on Richard when he was deployed. I guess she believes in immaculate conception or some shit...Martha looks like my fucking twin. As much as I hate to admit it, we all look like Richard. AND, we didn't meet or interact with William until Martha was already born...It's funny what people will believe. So, I know my mom isn't the most honest person and she has done some shady shit. But I'll be damned if someone who doesn't know her, us or the "real story" us going to go around and have a misinterpretation of her husband's past. The truth: Richard is a deadbeat dad of 3 kids, moved on married two more times and now has 2 more children...I hope my half brothers are able to have a healthy enriched relationship with him. I just hope they take half of the stuff he teaches them, and let it fly over their heads...Trust me, this is the man who believes what he reads in the National Enquirer...Also, the same man who told me that cigarettes don't cause cancer. Yeah, because thousands of doctors, scientists, science, and facts are all wrong, Richard. This is not someone who should be in charge of educating people.
Either way, I'm grateful that William, my dad, who was there to pick up the pieces, be a man and take care of a family that was not his own. It's hard to find a man like that. For that reason, he is my one and only dad. I don't need a paternity test to tell me that. Love you pops...
